National Country Club Championship To Be Held At TPC Sawgrass

Teams from Clubs Around the World Set to Compete

The third annual National Country Club Championship, Presented by True Power, will be contested this December 6-9 at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, site of the PGA Tour's THE PLAYERS Championship. A field of 13 teams representing some of the country's finest golf and country clubs will battle alongside international participants for the right to display the national trophy for a year at their club.

Three amateurs from each competing club will be paired with their respective PGA club professional as they vie for the championship title over three days of competition. As an additional incentive, the pros will compete for over $10,000 and be afforded other amenities including a $400 gift bag featuring Official Apparel Sponsors Fairway & Greene and Zero Restriction. Amateur and professional teams will compete in a combined format of best ball gross and best ball net.

True Power, the leader in negative ion technology energy bands, is the tournament's Presenting Sponsor. This year, Len Mattiace, pro golfer and spokesperson for True Power Sports Bands, will be on hand to welcome the club pros, teams and discuss the many benefits and levels of flexibility he achieves while wearing True Power.

Michael Rymer, Head PGA Professional, and his team from Maryland's Members Club at Four Streams will be returning to defend their championship title. It is likely that the novel 54-hole tournament may be decided on Pete Dye's famous Stadium Course island green, the par-3 17th, which is considered golf's most intimidating hole. The dramatic and challenging Stadium Course will host all three competitive rounds of this popular event.

The entry fee for each amateur player is $2,995 (single occupancy upgrade $300), which includes hotel accommodations at the Marriott Sawgrass Resort & Spa (acknowledged as one of the top 10 "Best Golf Resorts in the World"), ground transportation, a welcome reception and closing awards banquet, cocktail parties, contests, gifts and other hospitality. The National Country Club Championship is created and managed by Yale Stogel, President, The Sports Alliance, Inc. of Thornwood, New York.
