Streamsong to Add a Fourth Course

Streamsong to Add a Fourth Course

By Dave Daubert

During the PGA Show in Orlando, Streamsong Resort in Florida, which is celebrating its Tenth Anniversary, announced the addition of a fourth golf course to be designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, the architects of the Red course, which happens to be my favorite. The iconic design team is partnering again with the Mosaic Company to add a new short course near the Streamsong Lodge. Currently the Resort boasts three architectural wonders with the Red, Black & Blue championship golf courses that have garnered many accolades from the golf world.

"Ben and I are pleased to announce that we will again be working with our friends at the resort, this time to create a short course within walking distance of the Lodge," said Bill Coore. The course winds through the century-old oaks, mining cuts and along the banks of Little Payne Creek. Dramatic elevation changes exist on the land bringing drama, strategy and fun shots throughout. "The site for the short course is gifted with sand based landforms, and although smaller in scale and definitely different in character from its three big brothers, we believe this new addition has the potential to complement the amazing golf experiences that have made Streamsong one of our nation's most highly acclaimed golf destinations," added Coore.

The layout will be designed as a walking course where a full set of clubs will not be required. The new concept will allow guests to play more quickly and without specified tee markers or a score relative to par. Early routings on the roughly 100-acre site include holes ranging from 70 to 300 yards.

"We are thrilled to work with Bill and Ben again on this new short course, and we are equally ecstatic that the Streamsong's unprecedented success in 2021 allows us to fund this project with cash generated by the management at the resort," said Ben Pratt, Mosaic Senior VP of government and public affairs. "We are confident that this addition to the Streamsong portfolio will significantly enhance the resort's value. As we approach the final design, we are focused on creating fun and accessible golf that will rival its bigger siblings for quality and character."

Coore & Crenshaw also designed Streamsong Red, which opened in 2012 with "Best New U.S. Course" honors and is perennially ranked among the top 30 courses in the U.S. by Golf Digest, Golf Magazine and Golfweek.

"Streamsong has firmly established itself as a truly iconic golf resort, a feat worth celebrating as we approach its 10th anniversary," said Steve Skinner, CEO of KemperSports. "A fourth course to be designed by Bill and Ben is the perfect addition to the three 'Top 100' layouts and will further enhance the existing unique and spectacular experience for our guests."

Streamsong is home to the only warm-weather destination with three courses in the "Top 50 You Can Play" in the United States, and the only destination in the world with three distinct golf courses designed by legendary architects Tom Doak, Gil Hanse/Jim Wagner and Coore & Crenshaw.

Streamsong Resort is set on 16,000 pristine acres of fauna and flora-an authentic Florida experience located in Central Florida's Polk County.

Beyond the fairways, guests can enjoy the comfort of the beautiful and sell appointed 216 room Lodge, fine dining and tasty offerings at the clubhouses and Lodge, a grotto-styled Spa for rejuvenating body and mind experiences, guided bass-fishing adventures, sporting clays and archery challenges.
