Under Armour Golf Apparel Fall 2016

Protection Against All the Elements

By David Theoret

In my mind, Jordan Spieth put Under Armour on the golf apparel map. Without all of his victories last year and all of the exposure he brought them, I doubt they would have become so big so fast. And their success continues in spite of the poor year Jordan had this year.

For the fall of 2016, US has apparel technology to keep you warm, keep you cool, keep you dry and keep you ready while on the golf course. Here are just a few pieces we liked.

The 4-way stretch fabric in the Zinger Women's Golf Polo allows you ladies to swing away without worrying about pinching and binding, while Under Armour's Moisture Transport System wicks sweat and evaporates it quickly. With 30+ UPF protection, you're well protected from the sun and the anti-odor technology keeps you smelling fresh too. The self-collar adds a distinguished look and the soft anti-pick, anti-pill fabric produces a clean, snag-free finish. The Zinger Women's Golf Polo is available in sizes XS-XXL and in several colors including True Gray Heather, Black, Heron, Academy, Cobalt, Pink, Verve Violet and Crystal. Retail Price is $59.98.

The UA Links 9" Women's Golf Shorts sit next to the skin without any squeeze thanks to the 4-way stretch fabric which moves with you no matter which way you go. The stretch-engineered waistband has an adjustable inner elastic providing a perfect fit, and with the light and with the durable stretch woven fabric you won't sacrifice comfort. Under Armour's Moisture Transport System wicks sweat and dries you fast. In case it rains, excess water is instantly repelled thanks to UA's Storm Technology. There's five pockets to provide ample storage space and the working fly makes getting these shorts on and off a snap. The Links 9" Golf Shorts are available in sizes 0-16 and in Vanilla, White, Overcast Gray and Black. Retail price is $74.99. In case you want a little less coverage and a sexier look, the Links Golf Shorts are also available in a 5" inseam and a couple of extra color selections. Retail price of either is $69.99.

For men, UA's CoolSwitch Jacquard Men's Golf Polo pulls heat away from your skin, making you feel cool and able to go that extra nine. The textured body fabric on the front of the shirt creates added breathability and Under Armour's Moisture Transport System wicks away sweat for quick evaporation. You'll keep smelling fresh too, thanks to their anti-odor technology. This polo is well logoed too; there are UA emblems on the left chest and back of the neck. The CoolSwitch Jacquard Men's Golf Polo is available in sizes S-3XL and in Overcast Gray, Red, Academy, White and Brilliant Blue. Retail price is $84.99.

The Swing Plane Stripe Polo is loaded with technology. Thanks to their revolutionary Coldblack technology, infrared & heat rays are reflected away, allowing dark colors to stay cooler and, with a UPF of 30+, your skin stays protected from the sun's harmful rays. What's more, the yarn-dyed fabric is light & breathable so it can handle the hottest days and their Moisture Transport System wicks sweat away for quick evaporation, while the anti-odor finish keeps odor-causing microbes from taking shape. The UA logo is proudly displayed on the left chest. The Swing Plane Stripe Polo is offered in a fuller cut for added comfort in sizes S-4XL and in either tall or regular lengths. Colors include Academy/White, Overcast Gray/Stealth Gray, Academy/Putting Green, Brilliant Blue/Precision and Red/Nova Teal. Retail price is 69.99.

UA Match Play Men's Golf Shorts are some of the most comfortable golf shorts on the market. The stretch-engineered waistband and soft, stretchy woven fabric create unbelievable comfort and the Moisture Transport System keeps you super dry which only adds to your comfort level. The Match Play Shorts feature a flat front with a 4-pocket design and the 11" inseam provides great coverage. There's an embroidered US logo below the left pocket to identify the brand. They're available in waist sizes 30-46 and in White, Graphite, Black, Steel, Academy and Canvass. Retail price is $64.99.

Under Armour really excels in their outerwear. The Tips Daytona ¼ Zip Men's Golf Long Sleeve Pullover has a loose fit for added comfort and the double-knit insulation in the front is soft and keeps you warm. The elastic cuffs and water resistant stretch panels on the shoulders keep the rain at bay and help expand your range of motion, while the Moisture Transport System keeps you sweat-free. The Tips Daytona ¼ Zip Men's Golf Long Sleeve Pullover is available in S-3XL and in Black, Academy or White. Retail price is $89.99.

Cold weather gear is another of Under Armour's strengths. The ColdGear Infrared Match Play Tapered Leg Mens Golf Pants features Under Armour's Storm technology which repels water without sacrificing breathability. Their ColdGear® Infrared technology uses a soft, thermo-conductive inner coating to absorb & retain your own body heat; the dual-layer fabric pairs a brushed inside with a slick, fast-drying outer shell. A loose fit and stretch-engineered waistband combine for extreme comfort and the flat front, 4-pocket design and tapered leg fit give these pants a real professional look. There's a UA logo above the back right pocket to identify the brand. The ColdGear Infrared Match Play - Tapered Leg Mens Golf Pants are available in sizes 30-42 and in Steel, Academy, Black and Nova Teal. Retail price is $89.99.

For the fall golf season, Under Armour has quite a bit to offer both men and women. Whether you'll be playing in cool weather or warm, or wet or dry conditions, Under Armour has the right gear for you. Not only is it weather-effective, it looks good too. David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
